Samson and Shannon

Eleven years old and weighing in at 660 pounds, I, Sampson am the prominent cat at the Last Hope Animal Preserve.  Although my mighty roar can be heard for miles, Last Hope says my bark is really bigger than my bite.  I'm warm and affectionate, and absolutely love feeding time because that's when I get the chance to rub up against the fence for pets and scratching.  by anyone who will give me attention.

I've come a long way since arriving at Last Hope when I weighed in at only three pounds, extremely sick, and in poor condition.  Last Hope rescued me from a man who sold lions for profit.  I'd been left lying in my urine so long that I had draining sores and other wounds on my abdomen.  I was covered with fleas, which caused anemia and dehydration.  After several close calls, my health was finally restored.

Shannon tells me I stand as a symbol of the mission of the Last Hope Animal Preserve - to rescue, save, and care for abused and neglected lions and tigers ... to restore them to their beauty, magnificence, and God-given dignity.
