Duke

Duke here.  I'm 11 years old and share my enclosure with my sister, J.J..  In summer I weigh in at 800 pounds, but I get up to 900 pounds during winter.  The largest cat at Last Hope, Shannon says I'm extremely passive and laid back.  Most of the time I can be found lying in my den's doorway with my tongue hanging out.  (Okay, so I'm a couch potato!)

But I do spring to life at feeding time.  I love attention and scratching from my human friends, and often will lie against the bars of my enclosure in hopes that a volunteer will scratch my tummy of ruffle my fur.  It's purrrrific!

Shannon says my sister J.J. and I were scheduled for extermination when we were rescued by Last Hope.  Because of improper nutrition, I had lost most of my hair and my vitality.  My owner wanted to put an end to me.  Can you imagine that?  I'm glad Last Hope came along and took care of us!
